Mrs. Zietlow has been associated with the Endowment since October 1988, and has served as the Assistant Executive Director since 1999.  She is active in community affairs relating to scholarships, educational training, and a variety of youth programs.

SHEENA RAMSEY IS NEW ASSISTANT

In another important personnel change, Sheena Ramsey has been named Assistant and assumed the front desk position effective December 1, 2009. We welcome Sheena to the Baumberger family!

RENEWAL TIME AGAIN

Renewal applications and FIF’s for 2010-11 are being sent to Scholars (1) making satisfactory progress under the “Conditions of Agreement” and (2) who have remaining eligibility under the Baumberger Scholarship program.  Policy entitles an undergraduate Baumberger Scholar with a good record to a maximum of eight (8) semesters of funding while pursuing a bachelor’s degree.  Interested eligible Scholars should complete and submit an Application of Renewal of Baumberger Scholarship and a Financial Information Form for 2010-11 in the postage-paid, self-addressed envelope provided.  Deadline for receipt by Baumberger is March 15, 2010.

IMPORTANT:  Observe deadline of March 15, 2010 for Baumberger to receive your Renewal Application and Financial Information Form.    All requests for renewals will be reviewed by staff for academic progress and relative financial need before continuance is given in May.

ARE YOU CONSIDERED AVERAGE?

A survey of hours attempted and passed by undergraduate Baumberger Scholars in the Fall Semester 2009 produced these results: the average Scholar carried 15 hours and passed 15 hours with a GPA in the range from 3.0 – 3.4.  Groupings of GPA’s indicate that overall scholastic achievement was above average.  Baumberger strives to acknowledge the scholar in scholarship and is very lenient with the minimum GPA of 2.0.

Congratulations to the extra hard-working Scholars who achieved all “A’s” while carrying a minimum of 12 hours or more of work subject to performance grades during the Fall semester.  Also, we commend those of you who made Dean’s List, Honor Roll, or took honors-level courses during the semester.  We are proud of you!

KEEPING IN TOUCH WITH OUR SCHOLARS

The Baumberger Endowment has recently begun communicating with our Scholars via e-mail so we are asking you to please add baumendow@sbcglobal.net to your e-mail account addresses.  We have found that it is much easier to contact our students via the internet versus phone calls, therefore, speeding up the communication process.

·        The Fall Semester 2009 was an extremely tough one for grades as 6 students failed to meet various probations and were terminated regretfully; 5 students were placed on Scholastic Probation for this Spring; 5 are on “Progress” Probation for passing less than 12 hours; 7 students have been placed on both qualitative and quantitative lists for failure to make a minimum 2.0 GPA and pass 12 hours last Fall.  Baumberger has a policy of paying regular stipends to Scholars on probation with the sincere hope that things—both personal and scholastic—will improve in the months ahead.  So for those of you receiving notices regarding probation status…give it your all!

·        You are among 211 Baumberger Scholars receiving stipends for the Spring Semester 2010 with total funding of $487,691.

·        Baumberger Endowment has a new website www.baumbergerendowment.com.   Log onto our website to keep up-to-date on all the latest information including the current newsletter, announcements, etc.

·        Trustees and staff would like to wish you a successful year in 2010.
